In my last post I shared a little bit about our RV park neighbors-turned-friends Kayla and Zach, and today I’m going to share photos from the session we did! Honestly, from the minute I met these two cuties, I was dying to get them in front of my camera. And it finally happened! On the last Autumn-weathered weekend of my 13 week travel nurse assignment in New Mexico, my husband Keith and I drove with them out to Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness, which is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This area, locally known as “The Badlands”, is about a 30 minute drive from the RV park we lived at. Kayla and Zach had been there once before, but this was Keith’s and my first visit.

Since it was my first time at this location, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But as soon as I laid eyes on the distinctive rock formations that fill this small corner of the desert, I was in love. And I just knew that we would get some great pictures!

Kayla and Zach are the first real friends we’ve made since we’ve been traveling. A global pandemic isn’t exactly conducive to making new friends, after all. But these two caught our attention because they seemed to be about our age – which is much younger than the average RVers. Keith and Zach first became friendly in passing as Zach did woodworking outside their RV in the evenings and on weekends and Keith took our dog Luna on walks. This slowly lead to the four of us having an outdoor supper together, and the rest, as they say, is history.
“Bree is the best! I’m going to cherish all of these photos forever. She is so good at making everyone feel comfortable, it’s a gift.”
– Kayla + Zach
I knew they would be bringing their pup, Mya, along for the shoot, but I didn’t know until we got there that Kayla had brought a bottle of champagne and some glasses! I loved this, because my best photos have always come from my couples being spontaneous and simply interacting with each other, without worrying about me or my camera.

They laughed, they drank, and they danced. Every time they look at these pictures they will be able to relive these precious memories. And that is why I do what I do. Contact me, and I’ll do it for you too 🙂
