A few weeks ago Keith and I had the chance to drive down to San Marcos, Texas, which is right in between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Our friends Emily and Andrew opened their home to us so that I could show Keith around more of my home state. We arrived around midnight (I had worked that day) and fell, exhausted, into bed. The next morning started bright and early when Nola (three), Emily and Andrew’s youngest daughter, poked her head into the living room where we were sleeping. She was followed shortly after by Leisel (five) who is not shy at all and kept on talking until we got up to play with her (which we were more than happy to do).

Once we all got up and around, we went on a hike to Purgatory Creek Natural Area where the girls suckered – I mean, convinced – Keith and Andrew into carrying them for the majority of their hike. It was a beautiful hike and even though it was cloudy, the weather was perfect!

For lunch we made the short drive (about 20 minutes) to Wimberley where we ate at one of their favorite restaurants, The Leaning Pear. They’ve brought me to it every time I’ve been to visit; it NEVER disappoints, and that day was no exception!

After lunch we made our way to a secluded spot along one of the creeks that winds through Wimberley and let the girls play along the banks, and of course I got some GORGEOUS family photos while we were there too! All in all, it was the perfect day and I am so lucky that this family allowed me to follow them around with my camera and capture the small and quiet moments that often get missed in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
“The awesome thing about Bree is that she’s all about the candid moment. She takes snapshots of important times of your life and really captures the essence of the relationships she’s shooting. She just let us be ourselves and have fun while she worked her magic. Can’t wait to have another session with her!”
