Happy Friday, y’all! If you read last week’s post, you may remember that I was on vacation in Canada. Well, I’m still here and it’s still amazing, and I can’t wait to come home and edit all of my travel photos to share with you on the blog in a few weeks. But for now you’ll just have to trust me.
This week’s post is going to be short and sweet, and with a lot of fun photos! It’s all about my editing style today on the blog, and I have so many examples of before and after photos that I may just have to make this post a two-parter.

In a nutshell, I would describe my editing style as earthy, filmy, warm, and nostalgic. I love taking photos in nature in the warm light of golden hour. I love it when my clients wear earth tones. I love using light in interesting ways. And I love the color green (no shade to the photographers who edit it out of all their photos, but that is not my style!).
While I don’t use Photoshop or AI to edit your appearance, I will use those tools to edit out distractions in your photos. A good example of this can be seen below, where I edited out a sign, a trash bag, a stranger’s water bottle, a dog, and a woman’s arm.

Sometimes I wonder how I know which photos to make black and white and which ones to keep in color. And I honestly have no explanation. I just know.

One of my favorite things to incorporate in as many sessions as I can is silhouettes. I just love the drama it adds to each gallery and being able to focus on the colors of the sunset as well as the emotion between two people that you can’t even see their full facial expressions.

Another element I’m currently (and probably forever) obsessed with is using my big flash. I love the nostalgia it brings to the gallery, and I love the way those photos look after I finish editing them.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and looking through the befores and afters of some of my favorite photos! Let me know in the comments below if you like my editing style or not (it’s okay if you don’t! Everyone has their own personal taste, and this is mine!).
