Every year I make resolutions, and every year I break them. BUT, the theme of my life these last several months has been to push myself and work hard so that I can live my dream life. So I’m thinking that this year, 2021, is a year that I will keep my resolutions.
Here is some vulnerability coming at you in the form of my New Year’s Resolutions:
- Financial Freedom has been one of the biggest motivators I’ve had to start my own business, and it is definitely something I will continue working toward this coming year.
- If you’ve been following along on this blog, you know that Mental Health is a huge priority in my life. I’ve come a long way this year, and I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made; I know that not only is it a constant process, but that I also have so far to go to get to the place that I want to be.
- Another part of financial freedom is the ability to Travel – I’ve been so blessed in my life that I grew up with parents who had jobs that allowed us to travel as a family quite a bit, and as an adult I’ve also made travel a huge priority. The last few years (planning a wedding, getting married, and then COVID) I have not been able to travel as much as I would have liked, and I am hoping that this year will bring more opportunities.
- Something that is on my list nearly every year is exercise. This year, I want my resolution to include more than just exercise, so I’m going to list Physical Health. For me this year that will include: finding different ways to exercise with all the gym closures, drinking twice as much water as I usually do (especially on the days I’m working at the hospital), implementing portion control in my diet, and getting enough sleep.
- Making New Friends has never been one of my strengths. Being friendly is one thing, but actually connecting with people and fostering relationships with them is a lot harder. I blame it on growing up in a small town and knowing all the same people for my whole life. During my last contract in New Mexico, Keith and I became pretty good friends with our trailer park neighbors (read the posts I wrote about them here and here), and now I am making it my goal to make new friends, real friends, wherever we travel from now on.
So there are my resolutions. I guess we’ll see in a year if I was able to stick to them. What is a resolution that you have for 2021 that you are committed to? Leave a comment below and join me on Instagram so that we can hold each other accountable this year!
