Hello and happy Friday, y’all! I hope this last week has been good to you and that you have some fun and relaxing plans for the weekend. My week has been so busy – between working in the ER last weekend, editing a few galleries from last week, and preparing for the vow renewal in Eureka Springs that I shot yesterday (by the way, shooting in Eureka Springs on Halloween? A dream! Stay tuned next week for stories and photos from that day, and maybe even a sneak peak of the vow renewal gallery). I personally am definitely looking forward to this weekend to hopefully relax and spend time with my husband.

In today’s blog post I am sharing photos from a mini family session that I shot last year at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. To photograph a session inside the museum requires applying with the museum and paying a fee, but those are not required for a session on the grounds.
Before the Session
I chose for the location of this session one of the installations in the Architecture at Home exhibit along the Orchard Trail. What I like about this installation, designed by MUTUO, and why I knew it would photograph well are all the different corners and angles and the unfinished look of the concrete and metal, contrasted with the nature surrounding it. I knew it would be the perfect space for Allison, Matt, and their girls, and I was so right!

The Session
In her inquiry, Allison had told me that her girls love Disney princesses, and I totally got that vibe from them! E and C were the most fun-loving, giggly, twirly girls you could imagine, and they made the whole session so fun and easy. I can definitely tell, even after spending only 20 minutes with them, that they live in a home that is full of love and laughter.

Allison and Matt were also so great in front of the camera! Honestly, most people (them included) mention how awkward they feel in front of the camera … but when I photograph you, there is no reason to stress! I love giving all my best tips on how to look your best in front of the camera, and I love trying different camera angles and poses to get the absolute best shots of you! It is in my best interest to make you look as good as possible, and I really appreciate how people trust me in the moment to do what may seem like a silly thing or an awkward thing, but that will give us the best photos in the end!

This session was a mini session, which means that it was only 20 minutes long and half the price of my standard (one hour) sessions. Mini sessions are the perfect choice if you are wanting a quick session and a few photos for your Christmas cards or to print for your home.
