Hello and happy Friday y’all! I hope this week has been so good to you! What fun plans do you have for the weekend? Let me know in the comments! Here in Northwest Arkansas we had some pretty scary weather on Monday. At least two tornados touched down in the area – one was close to Siloam Springs which is near where my husband’s family lives and the other was in Rogers, almost in the same exact spot as the bad tornado we experienced back in May. Luckily, the tornados this week were not anywhere near as bad as the previous one. The one good thing about all the storms this week is that the burn ban here has finally been lifted, and this weekend I am hoping the weather holds out for us to be able to go camping!

Today’s blog post is all about last week when I spent Halloween in Eureka Springs. I was hired by a couple to photograph their 15 year vow renewal in the afternoon, so my husband Keith and I decided to make a little getaway out of it. We arrived in town around lunchtime, which gave us time to hit all of our favorite shops (we have been there so many times that we definitely have our favorite places to go in, but we also try to check out other shops as well). I know I have written on the blog about Eureka Springs before, but I just love the town so much and will honestly probably never shut up about it. So here is Eureka Springs: Halloween Edition!

The Rockin’ Pig
Our first stop was for lunch at the Rockin’ Pig. Keith had eaten there before, but it was a first time visit for me. I ordered a pizza, and even though it was delicious I could barely eat any of it because my stomach was still feeling a bit woozy from the curvy drive to get to town. *If you are planning a visit and are prone to getting carsick, I highly recommend taking medicine for motion sickness!

The Working Bunny
After driving downtown, we started out in the store East by West. It is a pretty standard tourist gift shop, but the reason I love to go there is to see the bunny. It sits on the counter by the cash register and customers are allowed to pet it. And then after you buy something, it will hand you your receipt! It is so cute, and the lady behind the counter said it does not take very long to train them for this work (apparently there have been a few different bunnies who have worked at this shop).

Location Scouting
Next we made our way up Spring Street, stopping in a few different shops. My favorites are the shops that sell items made by local artists and the art galleries. While we walked, I was also scouting for locations to take pictures at later during the vow renewal session (I will make a whole post on the vow renewal, keep an eye out for it coming up … you are not. ready. to see the photos. Soooo good). If you are interested in reading about my location scouting process, read this blog post I wrote about it and look at beautiful, summer-vibe photos from a couples session I photographed on Maui.

The Wanderoo Lodge
That night after I finished up with my clients, Keith and I headed back to our hotel, the Wanderoo Lodge. We had stayed there before a few years back, and it was just as great as I remembered. The decor is mid-century modern (my fave, and how I decorated my own house) and vintage summer camp vibes. They also have a restaurant, a bar and a semi-enclosed patio area where they have live music several nights a week. I ate the macaroni and cheese and the greek salad, and it was really good!

Three Bird Cafe
The winner of “Best Meal of the Trip” for me was Three Bird Cafe. We had never been there before, but we decided to go there for breakfast before heading home on Friday morning. It is so cute inside, and it was packed that day! I ordered the garden toast, and when I say that was the best tomato I’ve ever eaten, I mean it. The sourdough bread was toasted to perfection, and I am still drooling thinking about that tomato.
And that is a wrap on our trip! I hope you have enjoyed this blog post, and as a special little treat here are a few of the sneak peek photos from the vow renewal:

*I mentioned a lot of businesses in this post, and while it would be incredibly cool if I was being paid to promote them, I am not haha. If I ever am, you will be the first to know, and I would certainly never promote something I didn’t 100% believe in or use!
*All my blog posts contain a selection of images that I’ve taken. This blog post contains images that I took myself for personal use and enjoyment and are not intended to be used for marketing purposes. Most of them were taken on a cell phone, and most of them are unedited. If you are interested in viewing some galleries of my couples, intimate wedding, and elopement photography, click here. If you’re interested in booking a wedding or session with me, I am more than happy to send you a full gallery upon request!
